Major Industrial Development At Blaenavon, South WalesCowlin Construction is nearing completion of the construction of a £4.54m new industrial unit with office facilities on the outskirts of Blaenavon, South Wales for Doncasters Group Ltd. The Doncasters project which is due for completion in April 2009, involves the construction of a large, steel-frame industrial unit to be used during the manufacture of aero engine and gas turbine cast airfoils. In addition to the industrial unit, a three-floor office block will be constructed to house staff, several ancillary buildings will be built to form pump houses and process rooms and Cowlin will undertake extensive associated drainage and road works.
Divisional Managing Director of Cowlin’s Welsh Division, David Harris, commented: “Blaenavon is well known for its industrial past and heavy industry still plays a large part in the town’s economy. The investment being made by Doncaster’s into the area will help further boost the town’s presence. We are pleased to be involved with such rewarding projects that will bring increased employment to the town.” Eric J. Lewis, CEO of Doncasters Group Ltd., added: “We are delighted that work has started on the new facility in Blaenavon, which will enable us to undertake post cast processing work in Wales that was previously sub-contracted to a specialist supplier. “The new unit, which will report into our Precision Castings business in Worcestershire, provides a range of facilities, including x-ray, Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIPing), heat treatment and finishing. By bringing these capabilities in house, we are confident that we will be able to significantly improve our offer, becoming a real supply-chain integrator and adding real value for our clients.” |
