Cowlin is Double RoSPA Award Winner
Cowlin Construction Limited has won two prestigious RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards in 2009. The President’s Award for 10 consecutive Golds was presented at a ceremony at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole Hotel, at the National Exhibition Centre, on Wednesday May 13th. This non-competitive award marks achievement and high standards maintained over the past 10 years.
David Rawlins, RoSPA awards manager, said “Cowlin Construction Ltd has shown a commitment to protecting the health and well-being of its employees and others. Entering the RoSPA Awards reinforces the message that good health and safety is good for business, and clearly demonstrates an organisation’s dedication to improving performance in this crucial area.” As part of Balfour Beatty Construction Scottish & Southern Ltd, Cowlin also received one of RoSPA’s top accolades, the Construction (Commercial) Sector Award. Brian Smith, Cowlin Health and Safety Manager, remarked: “Commitment to the highest standards of health and safety has always been the cornerstone of the Cowlin business, as demonstrated by these awards. We have been recognised not for one year but for continued diligence year on year to achieve the highest standards in health and safety. Credit must go to our staff, employees and suppliers in achieving this tremendous success, one which we are all very proud of.” The RoSPA Awards are not just about reducing the number of accidents and cases of ill-health at work; they help to ensure that organisations have good heath and safety management systems in place. Cowlin’s commitment to Zero Harm by 2012, as part of Balfour Beatty’s pledge across their businesses, is clearly demonstrated and has been acknowledged by these prestigious awards.
