Value: £30million

Contract: Bespoke PFI

Duration: 154 Weeks

Construction works commenced in November 2006 to provide 1,040 no. en-suite student bedrooms with communal kitchens on the Ffriddoedd Campus at the University of Wales Bangor.  The contract works are divided into two phases, with final completion in August 2009, and includes all associated drainage, external works and landscaping.

Phase 1

Consisted of 3 no. multi storey blocks located on the green field site of the former sports pitch, adjacent to occupied student accommodation units.  The blocks are of similar design, constructed in timber frame, clad with facing brickwork and with feature villas to the top floor to enhance the appearance.

Phases 2

These blocks are located adjacent to Ffriddoedd Road and required the demolition of existing student accommodation units, whilst maintaining access for students to the existing campus.
