Project: Food Technology Centre, Stoke Climsland Campus, Cornwall College

Client: Cornwall College

Value: £3.2m

Contract: JCT 1998 with Contractors Design

Duration: 50 weeks

The development involved the construction of a teaching & food technology building at the existing Stoke Climsland campus near Callington in Cornwall. The project was completed a full six weeks ahead of schedule.

The building is situated on the existing sloping campus site, and has been designed to benefit from these existing ground contours and to take advantage of sustainable materials.

Externally the building features cedar cladding and stone faced block work and is split into two levels, the lower ground floor houses the teaching facilities and laboratories, whilst the ground floor comprises office space, I.T. rooms, a refectory and the food technology areas. The lecture theatre has also been designed to take advantage of the site by having disabled access on two levels at both the front and rear of the tiered seating.
