Project: Fairfield School, Horfield, Bristol
Client: Bristol City Council Value: £18m Contract: NEC Option A Duration: 90 weeks
The works comprised the construction of a 5-storey steel frame sports hall building with classrooms over and part basement to house the plant room and two further classroom buildings of 6 and 5-storey form an enclosure around a central open area.
The open area has high-level curtain walling and a feature sloping timber roof structure covered by aluminium sheeting, with single ply roof coverings to lower flat roofs. A central feature angled timber post helps to support the timber roof in the open area. The external cladding is a mainly self-coloured rendering with a feature facing brick plinth to the ground floor and aluminium windows and timber panelling. Internal finishes include sprung floors to the sports hall and drama studios with linoleum to the central area and dining room, with under floor heating to most of these areas. Generally, floor coverings consist of vinyl, rubber and carpet and the rooms have suspended ceilings. |
