The scheme provided six new ward facilities, including a children’s ward situated on the first floor, along with General Medical wards.

The block, which is comprised of two floors, is linked to the existing hospital and electrical installations with all the necessary medical gasses.

It provided de-cant facilities which will assist in future comprehensive upgrading. The quadrangle plan of the extension provided a pleasant central garden for patients use whilst providing natural lighting to all areas.

The contract also included a substantial external works element to improve and extend the much needed additional car parking facilities.
