Project: Leisure & Residential Development, Berkeley Square, Plymouth
Client: Prestige Group Value: £3.8m Contract: JCT 1998 WCD Duration: 65 weeks
The former Barclays Bank Chambers in the centre of Plymouth was extensively converted and extended to house a restaurant and bar featuring a double height room on the ground/first floor, with 27 luxury apartments and communal areas in the remainder of the building.
The works consisted of adding a two storey extension to the existing, three storey listed building. This comprised a steel frame, reinforced concrete floors with a standing seam roofing system. The existing external walls are a mixture of faced stonework, ornamental stone figurines and new powder coated aluminium framed glazing systems. This listed building was subject to stringent planning and conservation approval due to its architectural appearance and profile within the City. |
