The works consisted of six reinforced concrete framed buildings of heights up to six storeys in the Maindy area of Cardiff. The site was bordered on one side by residential terraced housing and on the other sides by a railway line and railway land.

The site’s previous use was primarily industrial with a large factory development that required stripping out and demolishing prior to the start of main works. The six buildings provided a total of 632 no. en-suite student bedrooms with associated kitchens and communal areas and the contract was let on a full design and build basis.

Cowlin has been awarded a further contract with Domain to provide 400 no. student bedrooms in Queens Road, Winchester. This £15.4m project is currently on site and is due for completion in time for the start of the academic year in September 2009.
