Client Brief:

The new development will provide mostly 2-bed extra care accommodation, with various communal and recreational facilities, for over 55’s. The site is in the centre of Nantyglo and, as this is the first new construction in the area for many years, is likely to create great interest in the locality. Construction is expected to last 59 weeks.

Cowlin’s Solutions:

This is a superb opportunity to partner with United Welsh Housing as they work on the regeneration of the Valleys. We worked with their team, Job Match and Communities First to encourage local labour initiatives and other enterprises and work experience placements throughout the project.  Six apprentices completed their NVQ Level 2 apprenticeship during the project, with new jobs already confirmed.

Local schoolchildren took a sustainability theme and filled a time capsule to be opened in 2050 and towards the end of the project the children from the  Garden Club at same school planted one of the residents' raised beds. Both events are pictured above.
